The Himalayan Education and Development (HEAD Nepal) is a non-profit making, a local non-governmental organization work

ing for the empowerment and overall development of people with disabilities in the Himalayan region of Nepal. It is the only one leading and pioneering organization in the field of persons with disability in Humla district. In partnership with Mission East, HEAD Nepal is implementing the project entitled “A Brighter Future – enabling persons with disabilities in remote mountain communities to exercise their rights II” in Sarkegad Rural Municipality of Humla district from January 2021 to December 2022. In this regard, HEAD Nepal is seeking innovative, self-motivated and dynamic personnel for the following position.

Positions No. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Qualification and experience
Agriculture Junior Technical Assistant (JTA) based in the field (Sarkegad RM) 1 §  Lead overall agriculture and livelihood activities implementation in the project

§  Prepare training curriculum and schedule as per the field plan related to livelihood, food security and sustainable farming, farmers group capacity building, Agri-infrastructure, value chain and market linkage/development related to agricultural production

§  Provide regular technical input to the farmers to implement agriculture and livelihood activities

§  Design and adjust agriculture-based income generating activities with locally efficient, effective and sustainable way

§  Facilitate agriculture and livelihood activities implementation at community level

§  Provide agricultural technical knowledge as well as technical back-stop to the target communities for Agri-infrastructure, house-plot, kitchen gardening etc. and support for market linkage for their production

§  Facilitate/support and coordinate/organize training to PWDS and their families considering their abilities i.e. on tailoring, fisheries, carpentry, homestay and basic hotel management, sustainable farming and its market linkages, saving/ credits and cooperatives management.

§  Facilitate people with disabilities/family member to register the business/ firms/ enterprise (hotel, shops, tailoring shops, private agricultural firms etc.) and support them for market linkage and economic benefits.

§  Support/coordinate with the community facilitators on community mobilization, disability registration, capacity building, awareness raising and advocacy activities etc.

§  Build rapport and coordinate among the relevant stakeholders to promote the livelihood options of the targeted beneficiaries

§  Ensure effective and timely implementation of the planned and approved activities and strategies in the targeted VDCs

§  Maintain close and regular contact with relevant line agencies and stakeholders at Ward, RM and district level

§  Support Project Manager to manage database system for project beneficiaries

§  Collect and compile field-based data and activities implemented at field and report to Project Manager

§  Collect and document case studies, success stories and best practices for dissemination

§  Comply HEAD Nepal and partner’s values, policies code of conducts etc.

§  Support any other activities as assigned by the Project Manager

§  Agriculture Junior Technical Assistant (JTA) training or Intermediate Degree in Agriculture Science

§  At least 2 years of job experience in relevant field, longer than 2 years of experience will find advantage.

§  Proven experience in community level mobilization, training, and influencing livelihood initiatives.

§  Proven experience in building capacity of people in agriculture approach and technologies

§  Excellent/good English and Nepali writing and speaking skills will be preferred.

§  Good computer skills, especially on Microsoft Office package and Internet applications will find additional advantage.

 

§  The monthly remuneration and  other benefits of the Junior Technical Assistant (JTA) will be negotiable based on candidate’s qualification and experience, however it will not go above as provisioned in the project. The successful candidate is expected to join the project from 1st March 2021.
